Post 2

Well my laptop has finally become pretty much unusable. As much as I hated it for being so slow, the idea of having to buy a new one is a little daunting. I've found that while the price of laptops since I bought my last one have dropped, the price of laptops worth buying has stayed pretty much the same.

Hanging The Show

Well hanging the show yesterday didn't go exactly as I had hoped. I got sick about lunch time, and was only able to finish hanging everything with a lot of help from the other people who were there. Big thanks to Jenn, both Susan's, Jared, and John for helping to get all my stuff up and making it look decent.

On another note, Final Destination 3 is a horrible movie to watch when you're feeling nauseous. first because of the abundance of gore, and second because of the horrible acting and plot.

I'm feeling a bit better now, hopefully I'll be good by crit tomorrow evening.

framing my images

I'm a little disapointed with the people who cut the mats for my show, I think only one of them so far has had a solid 90 degree angle cut in it.

Had to recut a few of the edges as well.

The Earth Really Is Flat

Google earth is the greatest thing known to man. It's so cool, it'll even run well on my 5 year old laptop. Wierd things do happen when they stitch the images together though.

My Fortune

It seems rare that I get a fortune that relates at all to my actual life.

Working On Thesis Show

Thesis work hangs a week from tomorrow. All my images are printed, and my frames are bought. Now I'm just waiting for the mats to be cut and it will be all ready.
My final layout will hopefully resemble this, but with nice prints, and frames. I've also been passing out postcards like crazy. I think 500 postcards was maybe a bit too many to buy.

They get off the water

“My expenses, since I’ve started doing it, most all my expenses have tripled. But the price of, price of that fish, on average has stayed about the same. I mean that’s why you see so many people, see a lot of people, hear about more people getting off the water, looking for other jobs. It’s not a lot of what you read about, or hear about, is lack of fish or crabs, that’s not why people get off the water. They get off the water. I’m catching just as many fish or crabs on average, or more a year, than I ever have. But the expenses are just outweighing the prices. A lot of the stuff you hear about, read about, it’s about this great plight of the Chesapeake bay, but that’s not so. it’s just, not profitable. It’s getting less and less profitable to do it every year. And it’s a shame, because the fishing and crabbing has really been, you know, good. But it’s just not, you just can’t profit any money because of that expenses. I’ve been in business, This’ll be the 16th year I’ve been in business for myself, here. My prices are just, about I mean identical, identical to when I started.”
