More Typewriter Video

In my Final Cut Pro class I'm continuing to work with still images of a typewriter that I'm making into a stop motion type video. This week I experimented with moving the camera while taking the pictures. my favorite clip can be seen below.

Pizza

Dave, Jasmine, and I went to 2 Amys Pizza yesterday. They have some amazing pizza. The only problem was that they didn't slice our pizza. When we arrived home, we half mutilated the toppings while slicing it. The picture is Dave waiting outside 2 Amys.

Video in Journalism

We've been talking about video, as it relates to the future of photojournalism, in many of my classes recently. I read an interesting blog entry a little bit ago about the status of still images as compared to video. I think video can be used very effectively in visual story telling, I also think that it has a long way to go. From the recent events at Virginia Tech, a lot of the video I've seen online has been rather weak, and is either modeled after audio slide shows, or cable news. The still images to come out of the same situations has been much more interesting, and used more appropriately.

Spring Weekend

It was "Spring Weekend" down at Longwood University. My friend Andrew goes to school at Longwood, and Kevin used to be a student there, before transferring to The Corcoran. The school is located in the town of Farmville, Virginia. Despite the name of the town, it was not quite as desolate as I thought it would be. Driving to the school we passed a number of places that looked like they would have been interesting places to photograph, if I hadn't been driving, and it hadn't been raining like mad.

Typewriter

I'm in a final cut pro class, and for our second project we were supposed to make a title sequence for a movie. My title sequence turned out just alright, but I made some animations out of stills in the vein of Eric Powell. The animations of the typewriter I was pretty happy with, so that's what I've posted here.

M*A*S*H

For my birthday I got the only season of M*A*S*H that I didn't have. I haven't watched M*A*S*H episodes in a couple months, and I remember now why it's my favorite show.

Early Early Early

Well I finally shot portraits with the cherry blossoms. Actually it's the first time I've really seen the cherry blossoms since I've lived in DC. I was supposed to make the portraits early yesterday morning, but with the thunder and lightning, we decided it probably wasn't the best time.

It was a whirlwind portrait session this morning, trying to get all the desired pictures before one person had to catch a flight, and another had to get to work. I met everyone, shot the pictures, and was still back home for breakfast before 9am.

Joe's Graduation Party

Joe's graduation party was this past weekend. He graduated last December, and it's a long story as to why the party was just recently, but it was. It was a good time anyway, I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time. I also found out that five guys from my old boy scout troop will be getting their eagle in may.
